Managers Report

We are almost at the end of another year, one that I’m sure our industry has found to be very challenging. The floods and cyclones inflicted enormous damage on a large number of sporting and recreation facilities throughout the state, many are still struggling to get back to normal and sadly some sporting clubs have had to fold due to lack of facilities, slow decision making by insurance companies, or unfavourable decisions by insurance companies.

Volunteer Portal

After its lengthy development period the Sport, Recreation and Fitness Volunteer Portal has been given the green light and finally went live at the end of November. The Skills Alliance is extremely excited by this development as we believe the portal will be a significant resource for industry.
The portal can be found at www.sportandrecvolunteering.com.au and offers the facility for clubs and associations to list their upcoming events as well as their vacant volunteering positions for free. The portal also links directly to Volunteering Queensland, so that organisations can search for potential volunteers from amongst the entire database of people who have listed their interest in volunteering.
